Fall of 2025, Cross County Connection expanded its SRTS programming by launching participation in Ruby Bridges’ Walk to School Day, observed annually on November 14. The day honors Ruby Bridges’ courage in advancing equality while highlighting the importance of transportation equity, ensuring every child has a safe route to school.
Cross County Connection celebrated the day with Riverside School District and Denbo-Crichton Elementary School, marking the first year we invited schools to take part in this meaningful observance.
⭐Student Spotlight⭐ Ruby Bridges’ Bookmark Contest
To honor the fact that Ruby Bridges’ Walk to School Day was started by 5th grade students, Cross County Connection hosted a 5th Grade Bookmark Contest with participating schools. Students designed bookmarks inspired by equity, kindness, inclusion, and safe routes for all. The winning design will be professionally printed and shared with all participating schools, uplifting student voices and reinforcing the power of youth leadership.
